Toe Badly Bruised BENEATH the Nail, what do i do? (pics)?

ok so my big toe is extremely large an about a cm longer than my second toe (pic: a href="http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y271/desigurl2fly/ewwmytoe.jpg" rel="nofollow"http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y271/de…/a ) , which causes lots of problems. Three weeks ago i went hiking and forgot to clip my toe nails, on the way down-hill gravity forced my toe down into my shoe and forcing my nail to jam upwards into my toe. one week later it turned purple though the severity of the pain reduced. Now it is blackish-blue (pic: a href="http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y271/desigurl2fly/100_0685.jpg" rel="nofollow"http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y271/de…/a ) but it still hurts near the base of my nail around the around the cuticle. It hurts pretty bad if i have to wear shoes and im majoring in science and we HAVE to wear shoes in the lab..what should i do? also should i worry that i might possibly get infected? PLEASE help =/
